How to Improve Communication Skills – for students

How to Improve Communication Skills – for students

Communication is just as basic as food and drink.

While some people sail ahead using their impeccable communication skills, others struggle to be understood. Here’s how you can improve your communication skills

1. Understand the Nuances of Communication
Communication has long transcended verbal exchanges to become an effective way of connecting with people. Scientifically speaking, communication entails the encoding and the subsequent delivery of the intended message with the receipt and decoding of the same on the recipients end. Even in its mechanized explanation, communication leaves ample scope for misinterpretation, leaving greater chunks of the intended meaning lost in translation. Understanding such subtle nuances brings about greater awareness in self-improvement.

2. Say what’s On Your Mind
When it comes to conveying the desired message, most people shy away from speaking their mind mostly because they are bogged down by social expectations. The need to be politically correct runs supreme and often tends to keep personal opinions withdrawn from the ensuing conversation. The prime purpose of being able to communicate effectively is to be able to express your personal opinions in the given matter. Restraining your thought process for the sake of fitting in tends repress communication skills in the long run.

3. Retain Eye Contact
Every conversationalist believes that the perfect way to engage audiences is to maintain eye contact with them. Looking at people in the eye tends to draw their wavering attentions to the conversation at hand. If you want to improve your communication skills remember to engage your audiences by directly looking at them. Eye contact ties the speaker to the masses with an invisible tether and forces them to pay attention. Without eye contact verbal communication is rendered completely futile.

4. Mind Your Body Language
The body does not need a verbal language to express itself. It can communicate via mannerisms, expressions and physical conduct. When it comes to effective communication skills, excellent verbal content is coupled with sound physical expression to render an engaging effect on the audiences. Animated gestures, lively expressions and physical mannerisms are excellent ways of conveying  a given idea. A deadpan expression only conveys a lacklustre attitude and boredom, whereas an animated front is more engaging to witness. If you want to improve your communication skills, you should start observing others while they speak. Talk to yourself and check your body language in the mirror to ascertain your flaws and improve upon them.

5. Be A Good Listener
Communication is hardly a one-way process. Listening is as important as speaking. In fact, most communication experts believe that an ideal communicator tends to listen more than speak. While t is heartening to be able to alleviate interpersonal troubles by talking it out, sometimes listening alone does the trick. Not only does it make the communicating experience richer but also makes you more sympathetic to the other person. In board rooms and important meetings, cautious listening could help you achieve the success that even polished speaking may not.

6. Clear Enunciation
Some people tend to draw their syllables out making their speech complete incomprehensible to the listener. While the idea of communication is extremely important, one shouldn’t treat the medium of communication lightly. Crisp enunciation adds to effective delivery. Not only do these require a thorough understanding of the spoken word, but also require much work on improving speech defects.

7. Crisp Pronunciation
When it comes to addressing an audience, a communicator must have an impeccable pronunciation to have the desired effect. Very often, bad pronunciation has made laughing stocks out of the most able speakers. The method by which the medium carries the message tends to shape the overall meaning accordingly. If your pronunciation needs improvement, don’t be shy asking for help. One should correct their pronunciation in order to maintain their effectiveness as good communicators.

8. Enhance Your Vocabulary
Thorough knowledge of the medium involves equipping your vocabulary with new words. Many-a-times people have ended up using high-sounding words inappropriately only to face public embarrassment. Building a fortress without a strong foundation will only result in eventual failure. Learning new words is an invaluable addition to your communication skills. Not only does it increase your verbal prowess, it also helps you communicate better. Coherent language is an assured winner in registering the intended meaning and engaging audiences effectively.

9. Follow Other Efficient Communicators
Human beings are excellent emulators. We live our lives emulating others and learn new things in the process. When it comes to picking up ideas for improving one’s communication skills, the best approach is to learn from others. It is only by observing others can you hope to pick up some helpful pointers for yourself. Observing other speakers will help inculcate their good points into your repertoire. Seek the company of good communicators and observe them closely. Emulate their speaking styles and mannerisms. With time, not only will you be able to communicate like them, but you will be able to develop your own distinctive style.

10. Study from Self-Help Books
Self-help books are excellent guides to improving any given skill. Effective communicators enclose their transforming experiences in such books to help less fortunate people gain benefits of better speech. With a host of titles to choose from, one can resort to emulating tips mentioned in these books to help make their communication skills better. The step-by-step instructions given in these books lend an extensive insight into the idea of communication to help improve them in no time. Not only is this approach inexpensive, but is also the least time consuming one. This allows the aspiring communicator to learn from a hands-on approach, addressing doubts and concepts along the way.

By following the steps suggested above, you will be able to improve your communication skills for good.

5 Best Tips To Make Money With Q&A Websites

5 Best Tips To Make Money With Q&A Websites

logo

Intelligent people never leave their questions unanswered and people are getting clever day by day. Internet has so much to serve you that is beyond your imaginations, Isn’t it? You find all your solutions by simply googling them. All those terminologies that you never knew and wouldn’t have ever known, you get a hold of them within the fraction of second by the Question and Answer sites that are available in bulk on the internet. These sites act like a forum where either you get your answers automatically,( if your question is pre-fed in that database) or through the members of that sites (Paid Employees, hired for this purpose only).

did you ever think, why there are such sites available? Are the owners of such Q&A websites investing so much of wealth, time and efforts out of some good will? Or they are just helping humanity? Theplat Answer to these questions (which you wouldn’t have questioned yourself probably) is, internet is all about Business. Some receive and some pay! And if you start your set up with this, you will earn too soon.

The five tools you need to work on to hit a successful shot are as followed:

1. Search for an Uncommon Q&A niche

q&a

Well written speeches only appeals when the there is something new within the topic. Similarly, if you plan to start a Q&A site, you need to choose some unsaturated niche. This is because , most general topics are already present on the highly rated forums, why would people and Google will take interest in a newly born set up of yours, having the same content as that of one of the best forums with top ratings.

Avoid choosing those niches that are already chosen by a successful Q&A website. Don’t forget you need to fight back the resistance that your competitors will show towards you. For example, choosing niche like clothes and make up, internet marketing, history etc aren’t a wise choice! There is already a lot of best material available on that!

2. A Platform you are compatible with!

22-2

Smartearningmethods is using a platform that is all what you need, a wordpress! This will allow you to use plug-ins and so much more. There are plenty of WordPress Q&A themes that you can check out at templatic.com’s answer theme and wp-answers.

But thanks to technology, you are not limited. There are several platforms you can start from initially and can get plenty of free as well as paid themes and templates.

You should keep your themes updated and should maintain them frequently.

3.Cash your Language!

3

Although English is all what is admired by throughout the world. Especially in my Country, Pakistan it has became a status symbol, but dear fellows, your native language can bring out hidden treasures for you here. Choosing a language of your own dilutes the market for your niche. For example, if I starts up my Q&A website in Urdu (my spoken/native language) about a very common niche, I may not attract the traffic that follows other languages, but, this will bring me all my potential members.

Try switching to the language you think, can bring you more money!

4. Attract Traffic, key to success!

key

Like all other websites, you need a good traffic which can be hard for you initially. You can attract your potential followers by using many methodologies like creating hype, advertising the reliability of your Q&A websites, etc. few of them are:

· By posting all questions on social media like Fb,

· Offering incentives, competitions and rewards

· Encouraging people ,

· Be wise and seek your competitors. Visit blogs with same niche and ask them to review yours. And join on liking.

· Ping your questions and make them search engine friendly

This is the area you need to concentrate the most after deciding a relevant a profitable niche for your website.

5. Monetize your Q&A website
5

The best way you can monetize your Q&A website is through AdSense, CPA and Infolinks. With Google Adsense you can place relevant Ads just below your questions. This will encourage people to click on the ads, bring lots of Money to your way.

With CPA, you can place the Ads in a similar manner as that with Google Adsense. However this one is more profitable and you can get up to $50 for each sale you generate.

Infolinks offers in text advertising which will hyperlink your text n your website to advertisers. Now it depends on your wisdom how you phrase your question and answers and place hyperlinks of your advertisers the more the clicks, the more you are benefitted!

There are trillions of ways to make dollars online but most of the people are just running after blogging. Blogging is definitely an effective way but to make yourself recognized individually , you need to think out of the scope. Starting your set up with a Q&A website, following the above explained tactics will bring you fortune, much more than your dreams!

5 bullets found on Prabhakaran’s son?– Channel 4 Television Video

5 bullets found on Prabhakaran’s son?– Channel 4 Television Video

The mystery around the last days of the assault on LTTE deepened today after a documentary filmmaker claimed to have a "chilling piece of footage" showing the bullet-riddled body of the son of its slain supremo V Prabakaran, a report described by Colombo as "concocted".

bal

Prabhakaran’s 12-year-old son Balachandran’s body is shown stripped to the waist and with five bullet holes to the chest.

The footage dating from May 18, 2009 will be broadcast on Wednesday in a Channel 4 film — Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields: War Crimes Unpunished–a sequel to the controversial investigation broadcast last year which accused both the LTTE and the Sri Lankan government of war crimes and crimes against humanity, The Independent said.

However, the authenticity of the video is unknown. The Sri Lanka high commissioner in India rejected the charges made by the filmmaker Callum Macrae.

son

"In our view this is a tentative report, uncorroborated and not being authenticated. This has not been shared with us for us to check. It goes against journalism ethics. The report is motivated and is concocted," Lankan high commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam told PTI in New Delhi.

The report comes ahead of a crucial vote on US-backed UN Human Rights Council resolution for an inquiry into human rights violations by Lankan army.

Talking about Balachandran, Kariyawasam said "He may have died. We have no records but he was never murdered. We deny this allegation."

He said according to a report, 8000 people were killed in the war and this included many LTTE members. "They were not murdered. They died in the course of war".

He said the latest report was "motivated" to bring disrepute to Lanka.

Asked if they officially registered their objection with Channel 4, he said, "We have officially objected. The high commission in London has done so." Source Times of india

IIM Kozhikode inducts 35 per cent women students in Post Graduate Programme|Education

IIM Kozhikode inducts 35 per cent women students in Post Graduate Programme|Education

Kochi: Continuing on its path of gender diversity for the second consecutive year, Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K) has taken in large number of women students, about 35 per cent, for its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) for the 2011-13 batch.

1

Of the total 341 students for the PGP, 121 are women, IIM-K said in a press release here. This is against last year's intake of 30 per cent.

Out of the women admitted, 84 have Common Admission Test percentile between 90 and 100.

Institute Director Debashis Chatterjee says 'giving prominence to girl students has become a trend in IIM-Kozhikode.

Last year also IIM-K had the maximum number of women students among all IIMs. Girls have always performed better than boys. Even in summer placements, they have been placed in better companies, he said, adding. this was all on merit.

2

'The female students have brought greater diversity both in the learning environment as well as in their academic and social profiles. It is truly a transformation process at IIM-K whereby students whose parental income is less than a lakh per year end up with top jobs around the world', he said.

IIM-K has been the trendsetter for business schools in the country with its consistent gender diversity drive, which is now emulated by others, the release said.

IIMK had implemented the Government norms on reservations to the backward and the economically weaker sections, the release said.

Out of 121 women students, 91 have engineering background, while 15 are either commerce or economics graduate. Three women are doctors and one is a law graduate. A male student is from medical background.

3

Chatterjee says there has been a change in income profile of parents of students coming to the institute. Though this could be a trend among all IIMs, in Kozhikode 7.94 per cent students have parents whose income is less than Rs one lakh per annum, 25 per cent students have parents earning Rs 10 lakh and above. Rest of the students have parents earning Rs 4-5 lakh per annum (12.70 per cent) and Rs 5-6 lakh per annum (8.73 per cent).

In IIM-Kozhikode, a majority of students -- 63.97 per cent have parents working either in government, PSUs or NGOs. Only 9.72 per cent students are children of professionals or private sector executives, the release said. Children of businessmen comprise 13.77 per cent of total students in the Institute.

Maximum students (12.65 per cent) are from Delhi followed by 12.05per cent from Maharashtra. Students from Uttar Pradesh have fared very well and comprise 9.71 per cent of its total strength.
