5 Good ways to blow your hard earned cash on Droid X Accessories

5 Good ways to blow your hard earned cash on Droid X Accessories

If you are one of the beautiful people who own a Droid X, you are already experiencing life in the rarefied air of enlightened living. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But as you walk apart from the common man who still has to actually type his texts and pay for tethering, don't think your journey of enlightenment is complete.

Here are five ways to further enhance your sanctimonious existence and live permanently beyond the unwashed:

5 good ways

1. The cost of replacing a Droid X is considerably more than the subsidized price you already paid. So protect it with a case from Otterbox.com. Otterbox has earned a reputation for engineering cell phone cases that are crazy protective and fashionable. The Defender Series Case for the Motorola Droid X is no exception. The Defender Series case offers three layers of protection: clear protective membrane, polycarbonate shell and a silicone skin. Priced at $49.95 and available in any color as long as its black, this is the kind of case you'll want wrapped around your expensive phone.

 1-1

2. Droid X owners know that sometimes a 4.3 inch screen simply won't do. They want to share what they see on their phone with friends. That's where the the Motorola Multimedia Docking Station for the Droid X comes in. The docking station charges your Droid while displaying a customizable dock screen that, for example, provides the time and weather. Best of all, you can connect the cradle/phone to your television via an HDMI cradle and show YouTube videos, photos and much more.

5 -2

3. As a Droid X owner, you don't stop being superior just because you have to drive in your car. The BlueAnt S4 hands-free car speakerphone can enhance your ego whenever you're mobile. The S4 is virtually hands-free due to its voice trigger system. It also integrates Bing-411 and Vlingo to enhance hands-free interaction. Imagine having caller ID information read to you when a call comes in, or having the S4 tell you where the next gas station is, all without having to touch the device or take your eyes off the road.

5 -3

4. You don't need no stinking Wi-Fi! Create your own hot-spot for free anywhere your carrier provides service, using PdaNet. PdaNet is a powerful app that allows you to connect to the internet using your Droid X's carrier network, without incurring additional charges. To non-Droid X owners this must sound so remarkable.

5 -4

5. After a day of being superior is so many ways to so many people, its time for a break, and a little fun. Jet Car Stunts is one of the most visually stunning games available at the Android Market. Available in a free and paid version, Jet Car Stunts maximizes your phones accelerometer, screen resolution and processing power to bring you a truly fun game you want to play often.

Well Droid X users, if you thought you were 2.0 and all that before, arm your bad self with these items and your ego will be 4G in no time.

BPO calls reach B-School campus

Mumbai: Business process outsourcing (BPO) firms that so far hired from tier three B-schools will now flaunt IIM graduates.

bpo -1

Take the case of Delhi-based BPO firm EXL Services which has managed to hire over 10 management graduates from India's premier Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. The highest ever for any BPO company so far, EXL Services has hired the IIM-A graduates for general managerial and consulting roles.

"This year we have been aggressive in hiring from B-schools as we want to grow our foot-print in these management schools. We have been hiring from B-schools since 2003-04, but that has always been limited to one or two students. This year we have managed to give offer letters to 10 students from IIM-A itself.

Last year we hired around seven management graduates from top B-schools," said Sanjay Gupta, Global HR Head, EXL Services. The company is visiting five to six more B-school campuses this year to meet its target of hiring 15-18 management graduates.

The company is of the view that the focus on management talent is due to the shift that the industry is witnessing as well as the work that is coming to the Indian players.

bpo -2

BPO and IT services firms have traditionally hired large number of students from engineering colleges and graduation colleges. But hiring from top B-schools has always been a tad difficult as students prefer to work with sectors like banking, consultancy, and FMCG.

The trend to hire more management graduates is however, not limited to EXL services alone or to the third party BPO sector. Captive BPOs of IT companies are also joining the bandwagon. IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) plans to hire over 1,200 management students for FY11 from B-schools across the nation. Of these the company has already extended offer letters to 557 students. TCS BPO has also made 129 offers so far.

According to Pandia Rajan, Chairman Ma Foi Randstad, this trend is prominent among the third party BPOs which need a strong marketing team. "With higher order processing migrating to India, BPOs these days are operating like any other company. Their growth needs are as important with various departments including marketing and HR growing," said Rajan.

bpo -3

Similarly, Infosys Technologies has extended 1,000 offers to B-schools students this year. This number is much higher than last years 463. For FY11 Infosys has already visited 57 B-schools.

IT services and KPO firm Syntel agrees with this trend. "We have hired management graduates in the past. With the shift in the industry the talent required in the industry is different. You also have to remember that this sector is people intensive, you need qualified managers. You cannot just blame the students for not being interested in joining this industry. IT services and BPO firms have never interacted with them. With firms now getting aggressive they are finding interest as well," said Mushtaque Aalam, Global Head, Recruitment, Syntel.

Students from management schools especially from premier institutes draw much higher salary than an engineering student. For instance, at entry level, an average management student would draw between Rs 3.6 lakh and Rs 6 lakh whereas, salary of a management graduate from a premier institute would be over 100 per cent.

bpo -4

Similarly, a fresh engineer graduate gets an entry level salary of Rs 3.3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. Category B management college students draw start salary of Rs 4.6 to 4.7 lakh from the top IT services firm.

"It's the job profiles student look at rather than looking at the industry. EXL Service offered consulting and general managerial posts to IIM-A graduates which was interesting," said a placement committee member from IIM-A.

Other than opting for other sectors, management students, especially from tier-1 B-schools, tend to draw very high salaries. "A management student always manages to draw better salary. That also sometimes acts as hurdle for industry players to hire in large numbers as students like higher salary and perks that are generally provided by i-banks and consultancy firms," said Gupta. Industry experts also point out that the need to hire more management talent is also because of the work that is coming to India.

"Whether it is the IT industry or BPO, they have moved on to handle high-end work for clients. For instance, BPO's are no longer providing only voice work. Large BPO firms are managing processes like accounting, analytics and other core activities. For IT firms, consultancy is becoming core as they move away from application development and maintenance kind of work," said an industry observer.

5 Must Visit Websites Launched in 2011

With about trillion of websites on the Internet, I know you don’t want to waste time sitting and reading this part of the article.. So let us move on towards what I have to share with you all. These websites were all officially launched on the 1st of January 2011 but may be registered long before the launch date, pretty natural huh!

must -1

1. Indiavibes

The first Web HD TV in India which will host a large collection of TV shows and movies.

must -1-1

What’s so extraordinary – It boasts of using adaptive streaming which will practically let you watch Videos without any interruption or buffering.

What’s not so extraordinary – You cannot download any show or movie as it uses adaptive streaming.

2. ItsHacked

This one is particularly a niche website (blog) for people who are interesting in  topics like Hacking, Network Security, Identity theft etc.

mudt -2

What’s so extraordinary – The website is fast, looks simple and uses a Tag cloud also.

What’s not so extraordinary – Frequency of posts is low and design do not looks like a priority.

3. UK Government Data

Yeah, yeah I know… Please do ask me what’s so interesting about sharing a Government site with you! My answer would be “see it yourself and then decide”.

must -3

What’s so extraordinary – Being a Government website, it’s nicely designed and organized. The best part about this website is that it opens up a lot of data from the Government of UK for the public to see, analyse and see summaries. You can even create applications using the wide data available.

What’s not so extraordinary – Not such a nice website if you are not much interested in Socio-IT trends.

#4. Teach Parents Tech

This one is from the house of Google which has made an interesting move by trying to help Parents and older people nice stuff about technology and a great ‘How-to’ series. Anybody can introduce their parents or someone they know of having less knowledge related to things on a Computer.

mudt -4

What’s so extraordinary – The website is nicely designed and looks cool, yeah the Google style! It is simple & quick to use and has nothing much hidden.

What’s not so extraordinary – The website provides a platform for the young ones to share Technology videos to their parents and other old pals. However nothing apart from videos has been put in place, also what if someone doesn’t even know how to install the plug-ins on a browser to run videos!

#5. iPhone Experience

What else will you need if there is a dedicated blog explaining you different tips and tricks about your iPhone, isn’t that cool? Everyday the blog comes out with some new application for iPhone which let you decide what all to keep on your own piece.

mudt -5

What’s so extraordinary – The blog is truly dedicated to iPhone and just iPhone. The frequency of posts is quite good for now and quality of content is fine.

What’s not so extraordinary – Design blocks are not organized properly and the colour scheme must be revamped. The topic is displayed in a font which looks quite not so good to my eyes.

Few interesting ones which I could not ignore (though they will be launched later in January):

[Update] Gmail resets, users panic!

gmail -1

Yesterday morning though did not happen personally to me, heard a lot of noise in the Google gallery. News about Gmail accidentally deleting entire data of about 5,00,000 Gmail accounts started spreading like wildfire and here’s a sample.

gmail -2

What did the Bug do?

An unknown bug cleaned up entire Gmail accounts of many users giving them a feel as if they have just opened a new account. Even the chat records vanished with 3 new emails welcoming the user to Gmail.

icon wink [Update] Gmail resets, users panic!

gmail -3

What now?

Google has already acknowledged the problem and has issued a statement that the engineers are working on the problem and accounts will be restored soon. There is another update which says only 0.08% of the accounts got effected by the bug (or 1,50,000 Gmail accounts) and not 5,00,000 accounts as believed earlier.

Latest: Recent updates claim that some of the accounts have already been restored and rest will be done as early as possible, but no specific timeframe provided.

Gaikai: The Future of HD Gaming | News | Tech

I play ‘Counter Strike’ often though I need to keep the installer on my machine as I don’t like to keep the game installed all time, due to less available space on my hard drive. However when I saw Gaikai, I could see a future where people will be able to play major games online without any need to install and run them.

future -1

What is Gaikai?

It is a cloud technology which let users play HD and major PC/Console games directly within their browser. No need to install or download anything.

future -2

No need for a powerful computer

Gaikai is all about running major games on its powerful servers located in the US/Europe to give you a great experience on your normal PC/console. What all you need is to have the latest version of Flash/Java installed. It will work alright even if you have a 4-5 Mbps connection.

future -3

Level of HD support

Ofcourse HD is supported, that’s how Gaikai is different. 480p and 720p resolutions are supported by most connections though 1080p may need higher bandwidth at your end.

Which games are supported?

future -4

What’s the bottleneck, huh?

Ofcourse Gaikai is not running a charity. The games you can play now on it’s beta website are not full versions instead they are time-bound or demos. The games made available to you are just to try and experience a game beforehand making any decision to buy them. Still not satisfied, read the FAQ and watch the video to see Mass Effect 2 in action.

A video from Engadget.com

Folks, folks, folks, I know the first word is going to be is it available in my country, my place? The answer is: Gaikai is heavily investing on new servers in the US, Europe and Asia now. So let’s wait and hope to play online soon. Share your words with me!

Use Family Friendly Yippy Search for categorized search results | TOP multi search engines

What all IE9 still does not support?

ie -9

Using W3C tests, IE9 RC (Internet Explorer) did try to prove its claim that it supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 almost 100%, but then HTML5Test and Caniuse did spoil the entire show. The score given by HTML5Test is definitely not so impressive for IE9 RC which awards Firefox 4 Beta with a score of 255 over 130 to the former.

ie 9 2

Few facts about IE9 RC (even with a 100% W3C score)

Dragging and dropping files from Desktop is not possible.

  • JavaScript Strict mode & offline application cache is not supported.
  • CSS3 transitions, Text Shadow, Gradients, Border Image & Flex box model does not work.
  • HTML5 History, ClassList & File API are not a reality yet.
  • SMIL animations (SVG), WebGL (3D) and FormData are not supported.

A review on IE9 RC [a true review]

Now let us see how IE 9 survives with Chromium 11 and Firefox 5 already into news. Do turn your thoughts to words, do share them!

No matter where you live, finding a job continues to be challenging. The jobless rate declined by 0.4 percent in December from 9.8 percent in November. It was the lowest rate in a year and a half, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The December decline was due to new jobs being added, but also to a shrinking of the labor force as people gave up looking for work and weren't counted as unemployed.

For job seekers 55 and older, the numbers are slightly more encouraging. The rate dropped to 6.9 percent in December, from November’s rate of 7.2 percent

If you don't live in one of these highly ranked cities, don't give up hope. Try these job tips to increase your chances of getting hired, consider part-time employment until something better comes along or even explore working for yourself.

Apple’s Light Peak implementation called Thunderbolt, comig in

Apple’s Light Peak implementation called Thunderbolt, comig  in

a.light

The rumor gears are really starting to churn with regard Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro refresh and now we have a purported leak of the upcoming spec sheet for the new 13-inch model. The highlight is a note (and image, above) seemingly confirming that Apple will implement Intel’s Light Peak high-speed interconnect, renaming it the Thunderbolt. Yes, we know there’s an HTC handset headed to Verizon with that very same name — and we’ve checked the USPTO archives, Verizon’s the only tech company with any trademark claim filed for "Thunderbolt" — but Apple has done weirder things before. Also notable are the apparent inclusion of an SDXC card reader and the absence of a discrete GPU chip, indicating that perhaps the new Core i5 integrated graphics from Intel are finally good enough to convince Cupertino to rely on them full time. Jump past the break to see the full data sheet.

Update: We now have an image claiming to show the new Thunderbolt port, which happens to look exactly like the Mini DisplayPort but has a tidy little lightning logo next to it. That’s extremely easy to Photoshop, as is the accompanying photo displaying a broader trackpad on the MBP, but we’ll let you judge the validity of those images for yourself. Check them out after the break.

Update 2: One more image of the spec sheet, this time in English, provided by MacRumors along with the note that it’s for the "low-end" 13-inch MacBook Pro. The doc states that the Thunderbolt port supports "high-speed I/O and Mini DisplayPort devices," which would explain why it looks the way it does.
